UK Healthcare awarded sustainability certification

Berendsen CIPS certification

Berendsen UK's healthcare division has been certified by the UK's Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

The scheme awards a sustainability score to each business, which can then be provided to current and potential customers to give them an immediate view of the company's strength and progress without the need to answer detailed questions for each customer or prospect. If the audit identifies areas where the organisation could improve, then these are highlighted and guidance given on what actions would be appropriate.

The award firstly examined our economic sustainability, where we scored highly for our governance, financial strength and ethics. A second area of testing was our environmental record, where our success in energy and water reduction helped us achieve results well above the average. Our social record and activities were the third and final area of enquiry, where our employment practices, people management and general corporate citizenship were highlighted. We scored over 80% in each of the three areas.

Peter Woolstenholmes, Energy Manager at Berendsen UK, said "Customers have encouraged us to apply for certification and this first award is great news. The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply is well respected and has awarded us strong scores in all three sections. At the end of the year we'll submit additional information and we're confident that this will increase our scores even further."

Berendsen UK at the Yorkshire Water Annual Business Awards

Berendsen UK at the Yorkshire Water Annual Business Awards

Almost 100 people from an array of companies packed into the Thorpe Park Hotel in Leeds for the Yorkshire Water Taking Responsibility for Business Awards on Wednesday (March 19).

More than 20 companies attended the awards. The aim of the event is to help Yorkshire Water and its key customers work together closely on their water use.

Kevin Barefoot (Business Services Manager) said: "It's fantastic to see these companies seize the initiative and by doing so making a positive contribution to the Kelda Group Vision of taking responsibility for the water environment for good". He went on to add "This is the second year we have hosted the awards and as a supplier of such a critical and important service, we believe it is right to recognise the efforts of these customers and to celebrate our relationships"

Almost 30 entries were received across the six categories and the awards were first assessed by a panel before a second round of judging took place.

James Eyre, General Manager at Leeds accepted the Strong Financial Foundations award on the day. Berendsen management in Leeds recognises the strategic need to have robust and measurable processes in place to create a Strong Financial Foundations need to grow its Yorkshire business, this award is evidence of the practices that have been put in place.

Engaging with hoteliers at Bournemouth exhibition

Engaging with hoteliers at Bournemouth exhibition

Berendsen's hotel division recently exhibited at the Hotel & Catering Show in Bournemouth, where we enjoyed meeting hoteliers from around the South.

Keith Blackman, General Manager of Berendsen's Bournemouth site, said "Last year we took the significant step of changing our name to Berendsen, to signal the extent to which the company has developed in recent years. This year we wanted to engage locally with both customers and non-customers to demonstrate the choice of services we provide and to explain the latest innovations from Berendsen. The exhibition was a success for us and we were able to talk to a wide variety of businesses both in our local area and further afield."

Berendsen's Bournemouth facility serves hotels and hospitality businesses with linen hire and related services.
