Berendsen provided us with fantastic support and commitment when mobilising the outsourced contract. They were proactive in developing the collaborative partnership which the Trust sought, with Berendsen's senior management taking ownership of the process and working hands-on throughout. This in turn enabled us to achieve a very smooth transition of supply. We have also benefited from new customer service innovations generated from regular meetings and conference calls as the contract has developed.

Berendsen's management team spent several weeks visiting the Trust's sites, to work with Trust staff to understand the best possible service method. Craig Jamieson, General Manager of Berendsen's Newton Abbott processing facility, explained "Every customer has different needs, so our service needs to be tailored to each hospital. It's not just about deciding how much linen is required and where it needs to be delivered. The service needs to take into account a wide range of factors, from health and safety procedures and storage space to ensuring delivery vehicles don't disturb local residents".
 
In Berendsen's solution, a trolley is pre-packed with clean linen at Berendsen's site for each specific ward. These are then delivered to the hospitals in a predefined order for distribution by Trust staff. Berendsen will pack the cages with up to 100,000 linen items every week.
